Karl Kristiansen, 66 of Acushnet MA, died Sunday night December 22, 2013 after a long illness. Born in Hartford CT the son of Karsten Kristiansen and Mildred Goldie. He lived in Acushnet MA most of his life and is survived by his wife Anna L. (Audette) Kristiansen. Daughters Kelly Kristiansen of Middleboro and Kerrie (Kristiansen) Koestner of Acushnet.
He also leaves behind four beautiful grandchildren, Lauren Ducharme, Jake Medearis, Mollie Medearis and Bailey Koestner.

He was a proud Vietnam Veteran and served on the USS Mansfield. Karl worked for over 30 years at Roth Tech in New Bedford and had recently retired.

Karl will be remembered for his wit, intellect, and loving spirit. He loved being with his family and friends the most. Karl took great joy in spending time with his grand kids. He taught each of them life's most important teachings, how to love, respect and cherish family and friends. He was our moral compass, mentor, confidant and embodied the spirit of patriotism. He was very involved in the NCVA (Naval Cryptologic Veteran's Association). Karl will be remembered and loved by all of his former fellow shipmates. Fair winds and following seas.

Calling hours will be held on Friday, December 27, 2013 from 4p to 8p, with a Memorial service planned, at South Coast Chapel, 158 Middleboro Road, East Freetown, MA 02717. A Military Service with Military honors will take place at the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne, Ma, on Monday, January 6, 2013 at 2:00pm.

In lieu of flowers, rememberances may be made to Disabled American Veterans.

Not everyone understands the hardships of serving in the military.

Not everyone understands the joys of moving around the world and seeing so many different places and experiencing so much more of life than many others.

Karl "KMAN" was much more than his experiences. He was passionate and vibrant and yes, outspoken.

Our deepest sympathies and understanding during this time go out to his family and friends.

Please know that pain and sorrow are shared and that he will certainly be missed by all of us.

He will most assuredly have Fair Winds and Following Seas throughout eternity.

My God Rest His Soul.

So very sorry to learn of Karl's passing, Anna. He was a dear friend though only for such a short time. That "little boy grin" would easily win your heart. Our prayers are with you and the grandchildren as they have been through Karl's long and heart-wrenching illness. May our Heavenly Father give you comfort and peace.

Dear Anna and family,
We are very sad and feel your loss, Karl was an enormous loss to us all. His contributions with the web services and general ability to join anyone in any conversation. His humor and wit was admired and appreciated by all. Karl is one of the principle reasons that this chapter of the NCVA has their own challenge coin.
Fair winds and following seas our friend.
You and the family are in our thoughts and prayers.
