Lucille Marie (Hansmann) Harris has peacefully gone Home to be with her Lord on Sept. 11, 2019. She was born in New York City on Aug. 3, 1938, the first of three daughters, to John and Irene (Gonsalves) Hansmann. The family moved to Sassaquin, MA in 1946.

A 1956 graduate of New Bedford High School, in 1958 she married her sweetheart Wayne D. Harris from Acushnet, MA where they raised their two boys. She leaves Wayne and their children, David and his wife Tami from Northbridge, MA, and Douglas and his wife Robin from Freetown, MA.

Lucille was a devoted wife, loving mother and thoughtful grandmother. Her extended family consists of three grandchildren: Eryn Amsden and husband Royce from Melissa, TX, Leigh Zimmer and husband David from Dudley, MA and Asher Harris from Raynham, MA; five great-grandchildren: Liam, Greyson, Graham and Nash Zimmer, and Sloan Amsden. Her sisters include Arlene Hansmann and the late Joan Correia, both of Sassaquin. Lucille was Godmother to Doreen Correia and Martin Hansmann. She also leaves many nieces and nephews and was affectionately known as “Tante Wu Wu” by her many great nieces and great nephews, who all loved her dearly.

In her early years, Lucille worked at Titleist and Colonial Textile. She loved music and dancing, especially round dancing where she became a cuer (caller) for over twenty-five years and for numerous groups including The Dancing Shadows. Lucille and Wayne, married for over sixty years, not only danced locally but also as worldly travelers. She filled numerous positions such as secretary, choir director and singer, pianist, newsletter editor and website publisher for the Long Plain United Methodist Church - as a member for over sixty years. Lucille was loved and respected by all who knew her. She was an extraordinary woman and will be missed immensely.

A memorial service will be held at South Coast Chapel in East Freetown, MA (www.southcoastchapel.com) on Saturday Sept. 21, 2019 from 3:00 to 5:00 PM. Burial will be private.

In lieu of flowers, donations should be made in Lucille's memory to the Long Plain United Methodist Church of Acushnet, MA or to a charity of your choice.
