Alfred Anthony Dias Gouveia, Jr. 78, of East Freetown passed away on Thursday August 3, 2017 at Brandon Woods in New Bedford.
He was the beloved husband of the late Margaret Ann (Wolcott) Gouveia.
Born in Fall River, Ma he was the son of the late Alfred Anthony Dias Gouveia, Sr and Elvira (Borges) Gouveia.
Alfred is survived by his children, his three daughters; Karen Graca and her husband Peter of Dartmouth, Lynn Cornell and her husband Steven of East Freetown and Stacy Vakassion and her husband Marc of Rhode Island. He is survived by his brother Albert Gouveia of Dartmouth and his sister Elaine Almeida of Dartmouth. Alfred also was the proud grandfather of his six grandchildren; Kimberley Menezes, Olivia Menezes, Jacob Cornell, Aleesha Boulanger, Charlie Vakassian and Rachel Vakassian.
Alfred was a veteran and served his country proudly in the United States Army. He worked for years at his garage Al's Arco in New Bedford, as a mechanic, later on he was a machinist for the Freetown Screw Company. He loved old cars, mostly he liked to fix them up and drive them.
Alfred's services will be held at a later date.
