Alice A. Francoeur (Sullivan)
Alice A. "Wladge" Francoeur (Sullivan), age 78 of Mattapoisett, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family at home, due to complications from a 20 year battle with diabetes.
Born in Acushnet, the daughter of the late William Sullivan of New York and Stella Babola of New Bedford.
She attended OLPH Catholic School and married young to raise her children and grandchildren.
She loved to help those in need......The poor. She loved animals both alive and stuffed ones. She enjoyed puttering around her house, inside and out, gardening, plucking weeds and feeding wildlife.
She and her husband enjoyed polka and ballroom dancing, and in her final days did the Irish jig daily.
She cherrished shopping with her sister Lou, at AJ Wright.
Her survivors include her husband of nearly 61 years, Harry Willis Francoeur, Sr., her children; her 2 sons, Harry W. Francoeur, Jr. of New Bedford and Joseph Louis Francoeur of Mattapoisett. 2 daughters; Christine Leticia (Francoeur) Hatfield and her husband Geoffrey Thomas of East Freetown..... and her pride and joy the late Carol Ann (Francoeur) Pollitt....6 grandchildren and 5 great grandsons. 2 sisters, Louise Labonte and her husband Eugene of Fairhaven and Dorothy Decotis and her husband Rocque of Acushnet.
Her services will be held on Monday June 20, 2011 with calling hours from 5pm to 7 pm. Funeral Service will be on Tuesday at 1pm in the South Coast Chapel in East Fredetown, with internment in Pine Grove Cemetery in New Bedford.
