Angelina (Monteiro) Samanica, 88, of New Bedford passed away peacefully on May 21st at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was born on March 15, 1933 in Acushnet, MA. She was the daughter of Jose and Emily Monteiro of Acushnet, MA, wife of R.S. of Dartmouth, MA and the former wife of the late Luiz Alves.
She attended Acushnet and New Bedford Schools and before retiring she worked for Tremblay Bus driving special needs children.
She is survived by her children, daughter, Colleen LaCroix and her husband, Paul of East Freetown; sons, Luiz Alves Jr and his wife, Kate of Rochester, Michael Alves and his wife, Kelly of Dartmouth, Brian Almeida and his wife, Cindy of Acushnet, two beautiful, deceased children, Baby Mike and Carolyn Alves; four deceased brothers and her special sister Alice who was like her mother to her every step of the way. She was the grandmother to six grandchildren, Carolyn Fletcher, Kim Nunes, Cody LaCroix, Amanda LaCroix, Austin Alves, Colby Alves; eight great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
She enjoyed going to Dunkin Donuts and chatting with her friends.
Family and friends are invited to her memorial on Wednesday, May 26 th from 4:00-7:00 at South Coast Chapel Mortuary, 158 Middleboro Rd, East Freetown, MA. In lieu of flowers the family requests you honor Angie in your own special way. In compliance with Covid-19 regulations, those who attend are kindly asked to wear a facial covering and provide social distancing when able.
