Anthony (Tony) C. Santos 62, of New Bedford passed away on Wednesday December 13, 2023 after a brief illness.
He was the beloved soulmate and life partner of 40 years to Pamela Phillinger.
Born in Taunton, MA, he was the son of the late Manuel Santos and Francelina (Sylvia) Santos.
Tony is survived by his significant love, Pamela, and his children; Justin Bissonnette and his fiancé Shaina McCloy, Jared Bissonnette and his fiancé Sarah Nessralla, Bobbi-Jo (Santos) Centrella and her husband Mike . Tony was predeceased by 2 of his sons; the late Ryan Medeiros and Brandon Medeiros. He is survived by his sister, Maria Kirkland and he was predeceased by his brother, the late Victor Santos. Tony was the proud grandfather of his 9 grandchildren; Tyler Thomas, Angela Medeiros, Avery Medeiros, Jaydon Medeiros, Jacob Centrella, Jaxson Centrella, Brielle Bissonnette, Adalyn Bissonnette and Shayla McCloy and one great grandson, Jasiel Thomas.
Tony had a passion for and expertise in cars, and made that his life’s work. He also loved to ride motorcycles with his many friends, going down to Laconia, New Hampshire for bike week as often as he could. A die-hard Patriots fan since he was young, Tony often reserved Sundays for football. When he wasn’t working or supporting the Patriots, he was spending time with his loved ones. Never one to shy away from hard work in his free time, he could always be found helping someone, whether it be a menial task or backbreaking yard work. When “Grampa Tony” was was with his grandchildren, he was always in the thick of the fun and games. At family parties he could be found playing corn hole and can-jam, dominating the younger crowd with his soulmate Pamela. Tony forged many deep, meaningful connections through his perfect balance of quiet support and loud humor. His door was never closed to those he loved, and was always ajar even for those he hardly knew. There will be a hole in the lives of the many people he impacted, but his mixture of mischief and responsibility has left everyone with enough memories to last a lifetime. His legacy is the people he loved and the people who love him, and what a legacy that is.
There will be a celebration of life at Calvary Pentecostal Church in Freetown, MA at 12pm on Saturday, December 30th.
