Austin Lopes
Austin Lopes of Lakeville, Massachusetts, passed away May 8th, 2021 peacefully into the arms of God following a long illness, alongside his beloved parents and brother. Austin was a graduate of Apponequet Regional High School where he was a Laker Leader, played varsity soccer, sang in the choir and was an active member of the musical productions. Austin was an early graduate of Emerson College in Boston, Massachusetts where he was awarded an honorary Bachelor of Arts Degree for demonstrating exceptional academic talent soon after his matriculation in 2019. Austin was an incredibly talented videographer, producer, creative storyteller, and musician. He had dreams to pursue a career in video media arts.
Austin was an active volunteer and dedicated to community service. He was a member of Saint John Neumann Church in Freetown, MA where he volunteered as a Faith Formation Leader. He generously volunteered his time at several community charity organizations. Austin lived life with purpose. He found meaning in everything he did and that’s what gave him the power to push forward through unimaginable challenges with courage and determination.
Austin is survived by his loving parents Connie and Gus Lopes who were selflessly committed to their son and his loyal, and beloved brother Alex, whom he cherished, admired, and loved as his best friend. He also leaves his dear maternal and paternal grandparents, Sevilha and Arlindo Rodrigues, Didi Perry and Hilario Lopes as well as his loving aunts, uncles and cousins.
Extended family and friends are invited to the funeral mass at Saint John Neumann Church in East Freetown, MA on Thursday, May 13th at 11:00 AM. The burial and services will be private.
