Barbara Ann Sturgeon passed away on August 3, 2023, after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Barbara was born in Fall River MA, daughter of the late Francis and Genevieve Tavares. She was a long term resident of Dartmouth MA. She is survived by her husband, Everett J. Sturgeon, Sr., son Brian Shannon, daughter Kimberly Moniz and her husband Christopher, her granddaughters Brittany and Cassidy Shannon and by her great grandchildren, Landen, Lucas and Lincoln Jones and Scarlet Cruz.
She is also survived by her extended family, Everett J. Sturgeon, Jr. and his wife, Rosie, grandchildren Madonna Martin and her husband Jon, Kristi Sturgeon and her husband to be, Francis Luongo, and great grandchildren, Kaitlynn and Jordan Martin. Scott Sturgeon and his wife Keisha of Colorado and their children; Christopher, Kayleigh, Kayden and Vivian.
Barbara had a special bond with all her Newfoundland dogs, Chauncey, Daphne, Chad, Ozzy and Cosmo She was an active member of the Newfoundland Club of New England and was awarded Sportsman of the year. She was a member of the National Newfoundland Club of America and loved water training.
Barbara worked in the Property Casualty business for many years and held various positions including the Director of the Massachusetts Association of Insurance Women of Bristol County at which time her Chapter won an award for Chapter of the Year. Barbara received national acclaim earning National Claim Professional of the Year.
Barbara was a beautiful soul who brought light into the lives of everyone she met. She will be so greatly missed.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend Barbara's Memorial Service on Tuesday August 15, 2023 from 5pm to 7 pm to be held at South Coast Chapel Mortuary, 158 Middleboro Road (Rt 18) East Freetown, Ma. A Mass of Christian Burial will be on Wednesday August 16, 2023 at 10:00am to be held at St. John Neumann Church, 157 Middleboro Road (Rt18) East Freetown, Ma followed by burial in South Dartmouth Cemetery 507 Elm Street, Dartmouth, Ma 02748 followed by a repast lunch 1:00pm at White's restaurant 66 State Road, Westport, Ma 02790
