Mulberry, Fla. - Bernard F. Gleason, beloved husband of Ella, aged 84 years, passed away in his sleep on June 21, 2016 in Lakeland, Fla. Born in Dorchester, Mass., son of the late B. Frederick and Margaret (Sullivan) Gleason. Bernard was predeceased by his aunts, Sister Margaret Justina and Mary Sullivan, and his brothers, Joseph and James Gleason.
Bernard was a veteran of the U.S. Navy. After his honorable discharge from the Navy he enrolled in Boston University and later graduated from Northeastern University with a degree in finance. He served as comptroller, CFO, vice president and president of O'Day Corp. in Fall River, Mass. He worked at Fibertec Inc. until his retirement. He was a member of St. John Neumann Catholic Church in East Freetown, Mass., until he and his wife Ella moved to Mulberry, Fla., 22 years ago where they joined the St. John Neumann Catholic Church.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Ella (Oliver) Gleason, his sisters-in-law Barbara Gleason, Janet Gleason, Sarah Oliver, and Steph Dellachiara, children Christina (Gleason) and her husband Gregory Seiler, Robert Gleason and his wife Arlene Wilkinson, Brian Gleason and his wife Kim Hake-Gleason, James Gleason, Stephen Gleason, Kevin Gleason and his wife Laurie Leonardo-Gleason, Lynn (Gleason) and her husband Christopher Johnson, and grandchildren Kjirsten, Benjamin, Mikayla, Alec, Brennan, Joshua, Matthew, Colin, Evan, Alexys, Christopher, Lincoln, and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
Services will be held at the South Coast Chapel Mortuary, 158 Middleboro Road in East Freetown, Mass. Visiting hours will be 4-8 p.m., on Tuesday, June 28. A mass of Christian burial will be held at St. John Neumann Church, 157 Middleboro Road in East Freetown, Mass. at 10 a.m., on Wednesday, June 29. A procession to the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne, Mass. will be followed by a burial with military honors. Anyone who is not going in procession down to Bourne, is kindly asked to go directly to the church, for Mass at 10:00 am.on Wednesday morning.
