Charlene E. (Thomas - Fernandes) Meaney

Meaney, Charlene (Thomas - Fernandes) known best to her friends and colleagues as Sherry passed away peacefully on June 22, 2024. She was the loving wife for the past 56 years of David L. Meaney and has resided in Dartmouth for the past 50 years.

Sherry was a retired Vice President in Government Banking starting at BayBank and by mergers ending at Bank of America. She was also a member of the Board of Directors for both the Greater New Bedford Center for the Handicapped and the Humane Society and Shelter-SouthCoast.

She was the daughter of the late Harry and Helena (Bradshaw) Thomas.

She was the proud mother of her beloved son, Lawrence Fernandes and his wife Lynn of Acushnet and her two cherished Grandsons, Dalton Fernandes of Fall River and the late Dillon Fernandes. Also survived by Lynn's children Jaime, Jessica and Jim.

She was the sister of the late Margaret (Thomas) Couto and also leaves her three nieces, Tracey Oliver, Beth Mello and Dara Guimond.

She was an avid animal rights advocate and has had many cats especially her beloved Beau, Misty and Paco.

In accordance with her wishes, the funeral is private and asks that donations in her memory be made to the Humane Society and Shelter-SouthCoast, 31 Ventura Drive, Dartmouth, MA
