Cleone J. (Joseph) Mendez - Greene

Cleone Mendez-Green became an Angel on January 29,2015 at the young age of 87.

Cleone was born July 14, 1927 the first child to the late Ira & Aletha Joseph both of New Bedford where Cleone was also a life long resident. Cleone bared two beautiful children the late Marilyn Mendez and Joanne Wills, she is survived by her Grandchildren Aletha Campbell, Robert Wood, Sabriya Targete and Cheree Hill,  Great Grandchildren Jaraud Wood, Quincy Fermino, Alycia Wood, Cayla Mason, Julian Targete, Creelyn Campbell, Briyana Targete and TJ Hill, Cleone is also the sister of the Late Ira “Sonny” Joseph, Charles Joseph, Phyllis Bulgar, Alice Smith and Harrison Joseph, Cleone will also be missed by an abundance of Nieces, Nephews, Cousins,  her beloved Ms. Hattie whom she was the care taker of for many years, Many Close friends who she considered to be honorary family members and her beloved dog Gizmo.

Cleone attended school through college and later worked for St Lukes Hospital for over 30 yrs until her retirement in the early 90’s, when she then enjoys Traveling and spending time with family and gardening in her yard. Cleone was well known in the community for her loving personality and acceptance of all people.

Cleone was far from an ordinary woman, she was a woman full of life and full of love, she was also know for her independence while she always took life on head first.  Cleone always was willing to lend an ear to anyone who needed to talk as well as a roof for anyone who was without shelter, the love she had for her family was immeasurable.   She will be missed dearly and will always hold a place in the hearts of all who knew her.

Visitation, to which both friends and relatives are invited to attend will be on Friday, February 6, 2015 from 10:00 am to 12 noon with a memorial service, to follow, and will be held at;  mfcsllc South Coast Chapel, 158 Middleboro Road (Rt. 18), East Freetown, Ma. 02717. www.southcoastchapel.com
