Daniel Allen Hanson, 83, of Lakeville, Massachusetts, passed away January 1st, 2024, after a brief illness at Morton Hospital. Dan was born June 29th, 1940, in Providence, Rhode Island, to Arthur and Bessie Hanson.
As a young adult, he joined the Navy and served alongside the Marine Corps as a Corpsman during the Cuban Missile Crisis. After many years and career changes he started his own business, Danl's Stuffed Quahogs, of which he retired as owner/operator at the age of 67. After years of work, his main joy in life was his family and spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandsons.
Dan was predeceased by his wife, Maureen Hanson of Lakeville, Massachusetts and great-grandson Matthew Dunlevy of Lakeville, Massachusetts. He is survived by his brother Paul Hanson, and wife Nancy, of Warren, Rhode Island; his daughter Kathleen Hanson of Lakeville, Massachusetts; his daughter Martha Lunney, and husband James, of Fall River, Massachusetts; his daughter Sarah Howe, and husband Scott, of Lakeville, Massachusetts; his granddaughter Kathryn Dunlevy, and husband Patrick, of Lakeville Massachusetts; his granddaughter Rachel Correia of Fall River, Massachusetts; his grandson Calvin Hanson Brum of Lakeville, Massachusetts; and his great-grandsons Thomas and Hunter Dunlevy of Lakeville, Massachusetts.
Viewing will be held at South Coast Chapel Mortuary, 158 Middleboro Road (Rt 18) in East Freetown, Massachusetts on January 4th, 2024, from 4 to 7 PM. A graveside service including military honors will be held on Friday February 2, 2024 at 1pm in the Veterans Cemetery at Thompson Hill, 185 Rhode Island Road, Lakeville, Ma 02347. A celebration of life will follow the graveside service at the family home on that day.
