Daniel Ivan Westgate

Daniel Ivan Westgate, 80, passed away on Nov. 2, 2014 at St. Luke's Hospital in New Bedford.

Born and raised in Freetown he was the beloved son of the late Charles I. Westgate and Pearl E. Westgate.

Married to the love of his life for 53 years the late Alice H. Chace. 

Daniel was the devoted loving father of 3 sons; Steven Westgate and his wife Elsa of East Freetown, Michael Westgate and his wife Belinda of Lakeville, and Kevin Westgate of New Bedford, and 1 daughter Susan Gallant and her husband George of Freetown.

Daniel was pre deceased by 4 of his siblings; George Westgate of East Freetown,Virginia Westgate, Violoa Perry and Barbara Clark. Daniel is survived by 4 siblings, all of East Freetown, Julia Pittsley, Marion Place, Charles Westgate, and Gerald Westgate.

He was the proud grandfather of 6, Jennifer Gallant, Brenda Westgate, Mya-Joy Westgate, Madisyn Westgate, Kayla Westgate and the late Michael Westgate. Daniel was also the proud great grandfather of 4 great grandchildren, Elmer Wing, Dylan Wing, Ashley Wing and Aaden Brown.He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Daniel was a life long hard working woodsman, he was very dedicated to his wife, children and grandchildren and loved them all.

Calling hours to which friends and relatives are invited to attend will be from 2pm to 4pm and 7pm to 9pm at the South Coast Chapel, in East Freetown, on Thursday, Nov.6, 2014. Funeral Service, Friday, Nov.7, 2014 at 10:00am at the Chapel, with burial to follow in Chase Cemetery in East Freetown.
