Debra Ann Pauline, age 51, of Acushnet, passed away on Thursday , August 21, 2014, unexpectedly. Per her wishes Debra was cremated,.
Born in Fall River, daughter of August Cote and Joan (Boscoe) Cote.
Debra graduated from Old Colony Voke in 1980, as a hairdresser, graduated from BCC with a degree in business management, worked as a receptionist for H and R Block Income Taxes. She graduated from Newbury College with a degree to become a physical therapist assistant. Through the years she became a big sister to many children. She trained to become a hospice volunteer with Southcoast VNA. She joined the Prayer Group who met monthly and made prayer shawls for hospice paitents.
She taught religious classes to the youngsters at her church, Acushnet Wesley United Methodist Church, where she was a member.
In addition to her parents, survivors include her son, Nathan Lafond, a grandchild, her siblings Kenneth Hayes of Acushnet, Joannne (Cote) and husband Steven of Acushnet, Step brother August Cote and his wife Linda, of Richmond, R.I., Donna (Cote) Renzi and husband Mark, of Johnston, R.I., Kenneth Cole of Warwick R.I., and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
Debra loved spending time with her family, and enjoyed making friends wherever she went.
Her hobbies were the Red Sox, Patriots, going to the beach and, especially, the Cape Cod Canal.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, September 13th, at 10:00 AM at the Acushnet Wesley United Methodist Church on Main St., Acushnet. A reception will be held at the church dining hall following the service.
Donations in her memory can be made to the Salvation Army, Purchase St., New Bedford, the Shriners Hospital, 51 Blossom St., Boston, MA 02114, or a charity of your choice.
