Dorothy E. Rice 80, formerly of Bourne, passed away at Care One, on Saturday August 15, 2020.
Born in Natick, Ma she was the daughter of the late Bernard Brooks and the late Audna (Newman) Brooks.
She was the widow of the late Donald Judd Rice.
Dorothy is survived by her children; Donald Brooks Rice of Bourne, Andrew Cormier of New Bedford, Bonnie Jean Landon and her husband Mark of CT, Terrie Lee Santos and her partner Susie Silva of New Bedford and Traci lynn Welch also of New Bedford. Dorothy is also survived by her siblings, Richard Brooks of New Mexico, Betsy Brooks of Jamaica Plain and Susan Brooks of NH. Dorothy was predeceased by her sister; the late Rosalyn Kelley. Dorothy was also the proud grandmother of her 8 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.
She loved being a mom, mimi, sister and your friend. Her house was a welcoming space. Her home was a safehaven for children of need or transition. She was a foster parent for many years as well as housing international students during the summertime so they could earn money to bring back to their families. She had a big heart and kept in touch with many who have passed through her door. She loved her ceramics and pottery but most of all loved entering online contest, which she won many, trust me. One memory most of us are remembering is her love for pizza from Marc Anthony's in Onset. Mom, thanks for our memories.
