Douglas Beard

Douglas Beard 83, of East Freetown passed away on Monday January 20, 2025, at The Brandon Woods of New Bedford.

He was the beloved husband of Donna Lee Beard.

Born In New Bedford he was the son of the late Ernest Beard and the late Vera (Crook) Beard.

Douglas is survived by his two sons: David Beard of Freetown and Daniel Beard and his wife Kate Delany of Michigan. He is also survived by his siblings, Jon Beard of East Taunton, Ronald Beard and his wife Pamela of Mattapoisett and Alice Paulino of Connecticut. He also was the proud grandfather of his four grandchildren, Alex Beard, Henry Beard, Nicholas Beard and Susannah Beard.

He worked for years as a Mechanical Engineer for the Acushnet Company. He liked dogs, and to watch sports on TV, he was an avid New England teams' guy. He enjoyed the water, racing with his sailboat and enjoyed being in the Outside Yacht Club.

Douglas's services will be private and held at a later date.
