Obituary

Edith "Nanny" M. (Ellis) McGowan 86, of Middleboro passed away peacefully, at her home, with her loving family by her side, on Wednesday, August 3, 2022.

She was the beloved wife of over 60 years to James "Jay" McGowan.

Nanny as she is loving called by the whole family is survived by her husband Jay, her eleven children; 4 boys : Michael McGowan, James McGowan III, Thomas McGowan and Bruce Hinman and her 7 daughters; Gail McGowan, Valerie Lesac, Martha Lee, Roberta Moriarty, Edith Vecchoine, Jayne Shea and Sandra Grafffum. She is also survived by by her loving 18 grandchildren and many great grandchildren.

Nanny worked for years as a home health aide for the South Shore Visiting Nurse. She loved taking care of people and children, and she enjoyed being a loving wife, mother and grandmother. Nanny loved cooking in general and at one point was making wedding cakes. She loved Country music, outdoor concerts, ice cream- treats and sweets ie Halloween Candy. And last but certainly not least her furry child, Jake the Puggle (beagle/pug) who she just adored. 

Nanny's services will be held at a later date.
