Frances Correia Obituary

Frances Correia, 101, of Acushnet, left this earth peacefully surrounded by her loving family on April 20, 2021.

Frances was born in Slaton, Texas to Policarpio and Simona Vigil and was raised in the Southwest with her 11 siblings.  At age 24, she met and fell in love with Francisco Correia, a service man from Massachusetts. The couple soon married prior to his overseas deployment during WWII.  After the war ended, they moved to the East Coast settling in Acushnet, MA. They purchased a small farm to raise their family of 3 daughters. Frances and her husband operated Curly’s Farm Stand where they offered fresh produce for over 50 years.  Frances was considered the “behind the scene manager” of the farm stand and she enjoyed cooking, gardening and above all being with her family.

She will be remembered for her soft spoken demeanor, her unequaled kindness and humble nature. She was warm and compassionate yet strong and courageous. Her focus was always on the greater good of her family rather than personal wants or desires.  As a loving wife, a selfless mother and a soothing grandmother, she was the loving glue that kept her family together. She will be missed by all who were touched by her life.

She is survived by her daughters, Tricia Sorelle (Paul), Donna Marshall (Robert), and Carol Boucher (Mark) who was her loving and compassionate caregiver for the past 13 years.  She also leaves behind her grandchildren Kenneth Gonsalves, Craig Marshall, Kelly Sorelle, Eric Marshall, Alyssa Boucher, Lauren Boucher, Melanie Boucher, Matthew Boucher and great grandchild Ella Fisher. She is also survived by her sister Rose Deaton of California.  She was predeceased by her siblings, Clem, Ignacio, Ruby, Pat, Ray, Pauline, Tony, Joe, Della and Julien.

Frances spent the past 13 years living with family who were blessed to have the opportunity to care for her. She spent the past 2 years at Our Lady’s Haven where she had been previously employed for 30 years.

We would also like to thank the staff at Our Lady’s Haven who provided kindness and compassionate care to her throughout her stay.

She will be laid to rest with her loving husband of 67 years in a graveside service on May 12, at 10:00 am at the Acushnet Cemetery followed by a Celebration of her life at the family farm at a later date.
