Obituary
Frances I. Devlin, 81, a lifelong resident New Bedford, passed away on Monday November 21st, 2022 at St. Luke's Hospital in New Bedford.
Frances was the beloved wife of her late husband of 49 years, Edward J Devlin Jr., and devoted mother of Kathleen Goldblatt and her husband Frederic of East Freetown, and Suzanne Devlin of Carver.
Born on August 3rd, 1941, Frances was the daughter of the late Charles Medeiros and Evangeline Arruda. She was predeceased by her brother Joseph Medeiros of New Bedford.
Frances is survived by her sister Dolores Gioisa of Fairhaven, her sister Theresa Varnet and her husband Harvey of Hilton Head, SC; her sister Margaret Skewis and her husband Hank of Healdsburg, CA; and her brother James Medeiros and his wife Joan of Andover, MA.
Frances was a faithful parishioner of Holy Name of the Sacred Heart of Jesus parish in New Bedford. She worked as a Laundry Worker for the Sacred Heart Nursing Home for several years and enjoyed spending her free time crocheting, baking, knitting, sitting out in the sun, and spending time with her beloved grandchildren.
The light of her life, she would brag about her grandchildren to anyone she spoke with. Frances adored Bruce Kimball Jr. and his wife Lottie of Mesa, AZ; Nicholas Goldblatt and his wife Crystal of Wareham; Jeremy Goldblatt and his wife Rebecca of New Bedford; Aaron Goldblatt and his wife Lindsey of New Bedford, and Sheri Kimball of Carver. Frances also cherished her several great grandchildren as they brought her happiness in her later years.
Frances will be remembered as a dedicated and devoted mother and grandmother. Her family will forever treasure the memories of Frances at family gatherings and will miss her many phone calls. She loved and was loved by many.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend her wake with visitation on November 28th from 4 pm to 6 pm at South Coast Chapel Mortuary, 158 Middleboro Road, East Freetown, MA 02717. Burial will be private.
