Harry was born in New Bedford, November 5, 1927, to Joseph and Julliette Francoeur. He attended local schools. He played baseball for the Crimson Arrows in the Bristol Twilight Leaque. he was in the Navy from 1945 to 1946 - Inactive Duty in the Reserve 1946 - 1951, in 1951 he was back on active duty in the U.S. Navy stationed in Davisville, R.I. He was Captain of the C.B.'s Baseball Tars and also in charge of athletics. He served aboard the U.S.S. Benham from 1954-1955. DD 796. Harry received the World War II Victory Medal, Good Conduct Medal, Korean War Service Medal, United Nations Service Medal, China Service Medal, National defense Service Medal, and SUPER DAD BLUE RIBBON.
Harry was an avid golfer playing at all local golf courses, especially at Reservation and Hawthorn Country Club.
He will be missed by all.
He enjoyed playing in the Cribbage leaque at the VFW with all his friends.

Harry was married to the love of his life, (8 days shy of 61 years) the late Alice Ann (Sullivan) Francoeur. He was the beloved father of 4; Harry Willis Francoeur, Jr. of Mattapoisett, the late Carol Ann (Francoeur) Pollitt, Joseph Louis Francoeur of New Bedford and Christine Leticia (Francoeur) Hatfield and her husband Geoffrey Thomas of East Freetown. Harry was also the grandfather of 6 grandchildren; Jeannine Marie (Francoeur) Heron of Somerset, Stacey Lynn Pollitt of New Bedford and Richard Brian Pollitt of Mattapoisett and 5 great grandchildren; Lucas James Heron of Cambridge, ME, Dylan Joseph Pollitt of Carver and Nathan Thomas Heron of Fall River.
Harry also had 9 siblings, he was predeceased by 3; the late Joseph William "Billy" Francoeur , Raymond Francoeur, and Lillian Francoeur. He is survived by 3 brothers; Henry "Artie" Francoeur of Wareham, George Francoeur of Wisconsin, and Jean "Louie" Francoeur of Dartmouth, and 2 sisters, Leticia (Francoeur) Sylvia of N. Dartmouth and Mabel "Irene" (Francoeur) Fredette of N. Dartmouth. Harry is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
PS..... He was a true gambler, a severe "SCRATCH" aholic and he loved to laugh. He was an honest man and a good person.
His funeral arrangements are PRIVATE, for family only, please.
Wake 4pm to 7pm on Sunday, June 1, 2014 at mfcs SOUTH COAST CHAPEL, in East Freetown. Funeral on Monday June 2, 2014 at mfcs SOUTH COAST CHAPEL,12p " HIGH NOON", with procession to burial with full Military Honors at Pine Grove Cemetery in New Bedford.
