Irena (Grudzien) Bociek

Irena Bociek, 91, of Acushnet passed away, January 1, 2015 at the Jewish Convalescent Home in New Bedford.

She was the beloved wife of the late Patrick Bociek.

Born in New Bedford, she was the loving daughter of the late Stanislaw Grudzien and Mary Dziewit, both of Poland.

Irene was predeceased by her two sons, the late Jeffrey Carlaw and Bruce Carlaw, and a sister, Helen Grudzien. She is survived by her sister, Julia Grudzien. Irene is also survived by a grandson, Ryan Carlaw of NH., and her long time caregivers, Gilma Rodriguez of Florida and Cynthia Sarkes of Acushnet.

Irene worked for the City of New Bedford for many years as a cafeteria worker for the Pulaski school. She also was a communicant of Our Lady of Fatima Church and she loved animals and candy.

Per her wishes she is to be buried next to her husband, Patrick in Pine Grove Cemetery, in New Bedford.
