Joan M. Wall (Mularczyk), of Bourne, MA, passed away peacefully in her sleep on December 17, 2024, surrounded by her loving children, family, and friends.
Known to everyone as Joni, she grew up in the south end of New Bedford, MA, and spent many joyful years raising her children in nearby Acushnet. A proud graduate of the University of Massachusetts Amherst, Joni majored in human development, which sparked an enduring passion for reading and learning. She had a boundless curiosity about the world and a love of music, the arts, sewing, quilting, daisies, and sunflowers. Above all, she cherished her time with her three beloved puppies: Figaro, Misty, and Piper.
Joni was warm, kind, inviting, and an exceptional listener and friend. She brought the family together, always remembering everyone's birthdays, especially those of the children. A dedicated mother, she fully immersed herself in her children’s lives as a band, orchestra, dance, volleyball, and baseball mom, and she was always first in line to help with unwavering support and love.
Joni had a deep affection for this part of the country and loved spending time in New York, Maine, Vermont, Nantucket, and on her cherished Cape Cod. Her favorite local spots were Ned's Point Lighthouse in Mattapoisett, MA; Hazelwood Park in the south end of New Bedford; and Chapoquoit Beach in Falmouth, MA.
Joni was preceded in death by her parents, Michael John Mularczyk and Mary Theresa Pavlock (Hughes); and her brother Michael L. Mularczyk. She was also predeceased by her dear husband Thomas Andrew Wall, and her son Matthew Joseph Wall, both of whom she now joins after missing them profoundly over the past decade.
She is survived by her son Thomas Michael Wall and son-in-law Lawrence Matthew Angelo, both of Acushnet; daughter Courtney Elizabeth Wall of Pocasset; and numerous cherished nieces and nephews.
In honor of Joni’s wishes, her family invites all who loved her to celebrate her remarkable life. Joni wanted to be remembered joyfully, and the family would like to honor that sentiment through a heartfelt gathering—details regarding the time and date of the celebration will be announced soon.
