John Joseph Freitas

John J. Freitas, 72, of New Bedford passed away peacefully, on April 19, 2015, at his home, surrounded by his loving family.

He was the loving husband of Rosemary E. (Bryan) Freitas.

Born in Newark New Jersey, he was the beloved son of, John James Freitas and Rosalina (Martin) Freitas.

John was the loving father of five children,  Marc R. Freitas and Tara of New Bedford; Donna M. Horrocks and her husband, Bill of New Bedford, Darlene latimer and her husband, Mike also of New Bedford. Pamela Chace - Texeira and her husband, Ken of Maine and Patricia (Patti)  Chace - Ogara  and her husband, Mark of Assonet.

John is predeceaced by his siblings,  Manuel Freitas, Edward Freitas, Mary Prignano, Helen Valente, and Rosalina Sarbu. John was also the proud grandfather of seven grandchildren, Josh Texeira, Erin Chace - Oldham, Billy Horrocks, Nick Horrocks, Faith Horrocks, Rusty Tavares and Lauren Freitas. He also had five wonderful great grandchildren; Kane Texeira, Kyleigh Travers, Noah Tavares, Henry Horrocks, and Hunter Oldham

John worked for years  as a machine operator for Continental Screw, Stillwater Fasteners, and Gersin's.

John was a United States Veteran who proudly served his Country in the Air Force. He loved animals, and he was an avid sports fan, and he loved his Giants.

John was very fortunate to have attended his own celebration of  life and all that knew him and loved him, attended and had a wonderful day.
