John L. Rybka, 83 of East Freetown passed away Friday, August 28, 2015 at St. Luke's Hospital in New Bedford.
Beloved husband of Ann (Frasier) Rybka.
Born in New Bedford, he was the son of the late Thomaz Rybka and Zofia (Mnich) Rybka. John was predeceased by his brother Joseph, sister Jennie (Coutu), Brother Henry and sister Josephine (Hair).
He attended the New Bedford Institute of Textiles and Technology (University of Massachusetts-Dartmouth) and graduated in 1953.
After graduation he entered the army and served his country in Europe.
After returning home, he met his future wife Ann Frasier and shortly after they married. They remained together for 57 years. In that time they had three children and four grandchildren. Russell J. Rybka and his wife Ann of North Yarmouth, Maine. Gail (Rybka) Sheredy and her husband William (Bill) of Berkley and Jeffrey W. Rybka of East Freetown.
Grandchildren, Ryan Rybka of North Yarmouth Maine, William Sheredy of Berkeley, Michael Sheredy of Berkeley and Krystyna Rybka of North Yarmouth, Maine.
John was a chemist, working in the textile industry in New Bedford and eventually spending 22 years with the Goodyear tire and rubber company.
He was loving and caring to both his children and grandchildren and preferred the simpler things in life.
He was a man who would tinker with everything and could fix anything.
John’s hobbies were building model aircraft and a Red Sox fan. He also always enjoyed swimming at every opportunity.
Visitation will be at South Coast Chapel, 158 Middleboro Road (RT. 18 ) in East Freetown, on Wednesday, September 2, 2015 from 5pm to 8pm to which friends and relatives are respectfully invited to attend.
A Mass for John will be held at our Lady of Fatima (4256 Acushnet Ave, New Bedford, MA) on the following day, Thursday September 3, at 10 AM. Relatives and friends asked to meet at Church.
