Judy M. (Witkos) Batty of Lakeville, passed away at home surrounded by her family January 3, 2016 at the age of 61. She was the wife of James M. Batty to whom she was married for 40 years. Born in Acushnet, she grew up in Freetown and graduated from Apponequet High School. She lived in Lakeville for the past 27 years. She was employed by Titleist Company for 43 years until her illness.
She dearly loved her horses Preacher and Beauty, and her dogs Jessie and Molly. Judy loved to spend her time watching and feeding the countless birds who migrated to her home each year. Her yard was also a haven for dozens of hummingbirds. A nature and animal lover, Judy befriended any animal that wandered through her property. She was also an avid horseracing fan.
Judy is also survived by her mother, Doris (Bessette) Phillips and her husband Richard Phillips of Milan, Michigan; her son, Michael Batty, his wife Patricia, and grandchildren Elizabeth and Elijah, all of Fairhaven; her sisters Janice Flood and her husband Ernest Flood of Shrewsbury, Jacklyn Harrison and her husband Jeffrey Harrison of Lakeville, and Jill Peters of Rochester. Judy loved her nieces and nephews, and had many friends who cherished her friendship.
She was predeceased by her father, J. Robert (Bob) Witkos. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to the National Hospice and Palliative Care Organization (www.nhpco.org/) or Southcoast Hospice in Fairhaven, MA (a member of HPCFM), or your local animal shelter.
"The family would like to extend their deep gratitude to their close friend, Donna Calderbank, for her love and support and care of Judy."
