Mabel Fredette Obituary
Mabel Irene (Francoeur) Fredette, age 86, died peacefully in her home, under the loving care of her family, on May 7, 2015. She was the wife of the late Ernest Jean Fredette, the love of her life. She couldn't wait for them to be together again for eternity.
Born in New Bedford, daughter of the late Joseph and Juliette (Saucier/Bisson) Francoeur.
Irene was a talented seamstress who enjoyed shopping with her girls,reading and making puzzles with Lucas. But more than anything she excelled at being the best, most loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother ever. Our family's closeness is a testament to that. We all treasure our Sunday family time at her house. She has touched more lives than she could ever know with her kindness and caring. We were so blessed to have her.
Irene and Jean had a love that most of us could only hope for. There are many treasured stories of their love. One of our favorites took place when they were dating. Irene needed a dress for a dance. Jean and his best friend, Frank, bought her a red dress to surprise her. In later years, the song "Lady in Red" was one of their favorites to dance to. With that in mind, wear a touch of red for Irene.
Irene is survived by 5 children; Joyce Clough and her husband Delmar, Steven Fredette and his wife Susan, Audrey Aurelio and her husband Donald, Jay and Carleen Fredette, and Janine Fredette; 11 grandchildren; Zachary Clough, Lauren Houle, Alexandria Clough, Justin Fredette, Daryl Fredette, Audra Thomas, Lucas Aurelio, Steven Wine, Courtney Wine, Jake Wine and Cody Wine; 7 great-grandchildren; Zander and Jadis Fredette, Addison and Julia Thomas, Benjamin and Annabelle Clough, Jack Fredette, and number 8 due in November.
Irene was one of 9 children. She is predeceased by 5 siblings; Joseph "Billy" Francoeur, Raymond Francoeur, Harry Francoeur, Henry Francoeur, and Lillian Francoeur. She is survived by her sister, Leticia Sylvia, and 2 brothers, George Francoeur and Jean "Louis" Francoeur, and many nieces and nephews.
Irene's visiting hours will be held Sunday, May 10, 2015 from 4:00 tp 7:00pm at South Coast Chapel, located at 158 Middleboro Rd. East Freetown, MA.
Her funeral service will be held at 10:00am on Monday, May 11, 2015 also at the South Coast Chapel, East Freetown, MA. Internment to follow in St. Mary's Cemetery on Kempton St. in New Bedford
