ASSONET, MA – Marion Abbott, 80, of Assonet, passed away peacefully, Tuesday, April 28, 2015, at Charlton Memorial Hospital surrounded by her family. Born in Fall River in 1935, she is the daughter of the late Albert and Anita Ellis.
Marion married Carlton E. Abbott in 1957, her husband of 52 happy years, who predeceased her in 2010.
Marion grew up in Fall River. She obtained her G.E.D. through a program offered at Bristol Community College in Fall River. She worked in the garment industry for many years.
Marion was a member of the Freetown Historical Society, Berkley Happy Hearts Club and International Ladies Garment Workers Union. She formerly served as a volunteer with the Auxiliary of Charlton Memorial Hospital, Cub Scouts, and Brownies. She was a communicant of the Church of the Holy Spirit in Fall River. She enjoyed sewing, crafts, and ceramics. She enjoyed the time she spent with her family and friends, particularly her grandchildren.
Marion is survived by two daughters, Anita E. Abbott of Assonet and Patricia Costa and her husband Steve of Picayune, MS; three sons, Carlton E. Abbott, Jr. and his wife Arletta of Freetown, Steven E. Abbott and his wife Susan of Freetown, and Donald E. Abbott and his wife Lisa of Dighton; seven loving grandchildren, Rachel Lindsey, Monique, Madison, Sydney, Brendan and Bryan.
A private cremation has been entrusted to mfcsllc South Coast Chapel, 158 Middleboro Road East Freetown, MA. 02717.
