Mary Stephenson Obituary
Mary J. Stephenson 91, of New Bedford passed away on Christmas Day December 25, 2019 at her home.
She was the beloved wife of the late Albert M. Stephenson.
Born in New Bedford, she was the daughter of the late Jack Frates and the late Alice Ann (Bonbardier) Frates.
Mary was predeceased by her son; the late Stephen A. Varao and she is survived by her remainning children; James Varao and his wife Jayne of N. Dartmouth, Glen Varao and his wife Charlene of New Bedford, Daniel A. Varao of Phoenix AZ, John Varao of Acushnet and Linda Phelps of Dartmouth. Mary was predeceaed by her siblings; The late Norman Frates, the late Robert Frates, the late Dorothy Taylor and the late Vivian Mills. Mary was also the proud grandmother of her 11 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.
Mary enjoyed animals and birds and she also liked to cook. But she truly loved being a mother.
Services for Mary will be held at a later date to include burial down at the Mass National Cemetery in Bourne with her beloved husband Albert.
