Milton W. Kostka, aged 87, of New Bedford. Milton “Squeaks” Kostka of New Bedford passed away the morning of June 14, surrounded by his daughters at St. Luke’s Hospital.
The son of John and Nellie Kostka of Rhode Island, Milton grew up on a family farm with his eight siblings. His upbringing led to a lifelong love of animals and an admirable work ethic.
Milton married his loving wife, Ann (Jones) Kostka on June 6, 1959. They moved to New Bedford shortly after starting their family. Milton remained in the house for over sixty years before moving into his daughter Kathleen’s house one year ago. A jack of all trades, Milton is best known as a co-owner of Designer Cakes by Ann’s Place in Acushnet, MA.
Milton was a lover of Westerns, yard and mechanical work, and spending time with friends and family. He never slowed down, and took pride in his ability to complete projects well into his eighties. Milton never ran low on funny stories, and was always ready for a laugh.
Milton is survived by his children, Kathleen Rebello and husband Michael, Donna Lamontagne and husband David, and Ann Marie Rybka and husband Russell, seven grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. He is also survived by two sisters, Josie Bonalewicz and Celia Bonalewicz, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend his Memorial Gathering of Family and Friends on Monday June 19, 2023 from 4pm to 6pm to be held at South Coast Chapel Mortuary, 158 Middleboro Road (Rt 18) East Freetown, Ma 02717
