Newell R. Harnden
July 20, 1930 - February 17, 2021 (age 90)
Newell R. Harnden, 90 of Rochester, passed away
at home with family by his side.
He was the beloved husband of the late Barbara M.
(Keenan) Harnden of nearly 66 years.
Born in Norton, MA the late son of Herbert and
Mable (Leland) Harnden and the youngest of 6
children who preceded him in death.
Newell was a loving father to his three children. Priscilla Sargent and husband Richard of
Pennsylvania, Richard Harnden and wife Rose of Plymouth and Pamela Myette and husband
Leon of Rochester. He was the proud grandfather of 9 grandchildren. Keri & Michael Blouch
of Pennsylvania, Richard II & Dianne Harnden of Middleboro, Jenifer Sargent Steinmetz of
Pennsylvania, Michael Harnden of Taunton, David & Marti Sargent of Oregon, the late Thomas
Sargent, Jonathan Harnden of New Hampshire, Stephen & Tiara Myette of Rochester and Ryan
& Mirade Myette of Rochester. He has 10 loving great grandchildren.
Newell was an employee at Bay State Tap & Die in Mansfield, MA for many years among many
other jobs including owning small farm. After his retirement he worked numerous part time
jobs. He was a parts driver for Midway Garage in Norton, and worked in grocery stores.
He loved his home and gardening and eating the food he grew. He enjoyed feeding the wild
birds and watching the wildlife in his yard. Mostly he loved his family and his best friend of 85
years Warren Carr. who lives in Maine. They enjoyed going to the Beagle Club and he worked
with Warren on odd plumbing jobs.
Newell's funeral services will be private in accordance with Covid-19 restrictions.
