Norman J. Vieira, Sr. 72, of New Bedfprd passed away peacefully on Thursday evening, December 22, 2016 at Bedford Gardens Care and Rehabilitation Center.
Born in New Bedford he was the son of the late Joseph Vieira.
He was the beloved husband of the late Blanche Irene (Lagasse) Vieira. Mr. Vieira was the father of his four children; 3 sons; Norman J. Vieira, Jr. and his wife Beth, Michael Vieira and Kevin Vieira and his wife Sandra all of New Bedford, and his daughter; Rachel Vieira and her fiancee Robin Souza of Westport. Normand was predeceased by two of his brothers, the late Gilbert Vieira and Dennis Vieira and he is survived by his brother Frank Vieira of Florida.
Mr. Vieira was a veteran and served his country in the United States Coast Guard. He worked as a self employed Commercial Fisherman and was on many different boats. He loved to go fishing, he enjoyed gambling, beer and women. Norman liked to go to the Casino and he enjoyed playing, Pai-gon, a type of three card Chinese poker.
Norman's graveside service will be announced later in the spring, at Acushnet Cemetery with his wife.
