Raymond A Roy, Sr. 85, passed away March 5, 2017 at Beth Israel Deaconess Center in Boston.
Born in New Bedford he was the beloved son of the late Louis Roy and Mary Louise (Royer) Roy.
Raymond was the loving father of his children; He is survived by his two sons, Mark Roy and his wife Diane, of New Bedford and Raymond A. Roy, Jr. and his wife, Karen of S. Dartmouth; One daughter, Susan Roy of Taunton, Ma; One sister, Lucille Sandy Theg of Middleboro; Ten grandchildren, one great grandchild and several nieces and nephews. Raymond was predeceased by: Two daughters Ann Marie Roy and Gail Roy; one son, Robert Roy and one grandson, Brandon Roy.
Raymond grew up in Fairhaven and graduated from Fairhaven High School then he lived most of his life in New Bedford and Newport RI. He was a veteran and proudly served his Country in the United States Air Force during the Korean War.He earned his Electrical Engineering degree at Roger Williams College. He also attended Northeastern University. Raymond retired from Raytheon in Portsmouth, RI as an Electrical Engineer after 30 plus years of dedicated service.
Raymonds hobbies, he was extremely passionate about the game of golf, where he enjoyed his membership at Green Valley Country Club of Portsmouth, RI for more than 30 years of his life. He also enjoyed bowling, playing pool and been known to enjoy the dog track and Black Jack at any of the local and not so local casinos.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend his memorial service with visitation at South Coast Chapel Mortuary, 158 Middleboro Rd, East Freetown, Ma 02717 Visitation will be from 6pm to 7pm with Memorial Service at 7pm on Monday March 13, 2017.
