Richard J. Donahue 76, of Assonet passed away at his home surrounded by those he loved, on Thursday July 12, 2018.
He was the beloved husband of Elizabeth Anne (Terry) Donahue.
Born in North Dighton, Ma he was the son of the late Richard Francis Donahue and Evelyn L. (Rose) Donahue.
Richard is survived by his loving wife, Betty, and their children, his two sons; John Richard Donahue and Paul Edward Donahue, both of Assonet, and his daughter; Wendy Elizabeth Ward and her husband Ralph of Westport. He is also survived by his brother; Austin Leo Donahue and his wife Donna of North Dighton and Richard is predeceased by his sister Eilleen Donahue. Richard was also the proud grandfather of his five grandchildren; Cameron Brouillette, Elizabeth Brouillette, Allyson Ward, Andrew Ward and Riley Donahue. Richard was the loving companion to many dogs and he leaves to mourn his passing, his three Jack Russell's, Jack, Peanut and Piggy.
Richard was a veteran and served his Country proudly during the Vietnam War in the United States Navy. He liked to go fishing, and enjoyed hunting but mostly he was a family man, he adored his wife, children, grandchildren and his faithful furry companions.
His service is to be a graveside service at Assonet Burying Grounds on Saturday August 11, 2018 at 11:00 am. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend.
