Richard J. Provencal, 83 of Acushnet passed away peacefully at home, on August 1, 2015.
He was the beloved husband of 63 years to the love of his life, and best friend, Gayle Ann (Kizer) Provencal.
Born in New Bedford, he was the loving son of the late Adelard Joseph Provencal and Maria Gloria (Amorin) Provencal.
Richard was the devoted father of Deborah A. (Raposa) Provencal of Acushnet and the late Jennifer L. Provencal.
He is survived by his siblings; his brother Norman Provencal of New Hampshire and his sister, Doris Day of Florida.
Richard was also the proud grandfather of his grandson; Justin James Morse and his great grandson; Alec Timber Morse.
Mr. Provencal worked for years as a Highway Superintendent for the Highway Department, he also proudly served his Country in the United States Army during the Korean War, as a Corporal and he continued on in the Army Reserves for 8 years.
He was a communicant of the Acushnet Wesley Methodist Church. Richard was a quiet and shy guy, he loved to travel and he really enjoyed reading. He was a family man and was happiest when he was with all of them.
Per his wishes his funeral arrangements are private. Richard's family is having a memorial service for him, at a later date.
