Robert E. Gifford

Robert Eugene Gifford 89, of Acushnet, passed away peacefully on Friday September 5, 2025, in New Bedford.

He was the beloved husband of the late Sylvia A. (Howland) Gifford.

Born in Jersey City, New Jersey, he was the son of the late Lloyd H. Gifford and the late Helen L. Hotaling.

Robert is survived by his son Darryl and his wife Linda of Rochester, his daughter Lori Corriea and her husband Robert Corriea, Jr. of Acushnet, his grandchildren, Nicole Corriea, Christine Luiz and her husband Kevin, Douglas and Kathleen. He is also survived by his brother-in-law Dana Howland of Fairhaven. Robert was predeceased by his brother the late Gordon Gifford and he is survived by several nieces and nephews.

Robert was a Veteran and served his Country proudly in the United States Navy, after that he worked for Eversource. He enjoyed camping and traveling across the United States and Canada with his lovely wife for 16 years, ending up making camp in Maine for 11 years.

The family would like to send a special thank you to the staff of Vantage Health and Rebab in New Bedford.

His services will be held at a later date per his wishes at Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne with Military Honors.
