NEWBURGH, ME — Robert J. Swain, 53, of Newbugh, ME, passed away unexpectedly at St. Luke’s Hospital, on February 12th surrounded by some of his loved ones. He was born in New Bedford, on August 29th, 1964. He lived in Acushnet, MA throughout his school years and as a young adult. Until about 10 years ago he moved to Newburgh, ME.
He is survived by his mother Patricia (Holland) Heaps, of Maine, his father Douglas M. Swain, of New Bedford, MA. His brother Curtis Heaps, of Seattle, WA, his brother Justin Swain, of New Bedford, MA and his sister Brenda Swain, of Wareham, MA. His step mother Claudette Swain, of New Bedford, MA. and his late sister Penny (Swain) Fonseca, who passed on July 9th, 2002. He also has 2 great nieces, Ashlie and Kaelin Hartung and his great nephew Aidan Hartung who lived with him the last several years in Maine. As well as a great nephew Brandon Gladu, of Acushnet, MA, his long time partner Rochelle Bruno, of Wareham, MA, and his niece Crystal Vaughn, of Acushnet, MA. All of whom loved him dearly and he as well. Along with a clan of relatives that live throughout the MA area.
A memorial service will be held at the Seamen’s Bethel, 15 Johnny Cake Hill, in New Bedford, on Saturday, March 3rd at 11 AM. In-lieu of flowers donations will be accepted at The New Bedford Port Society, also at 15 Johnny Cake Hill, in his memory.
