Roland James Lachapelle

December 21, 1941 – May 6, 2019

 

Roland James Lachapelle, age 77, passed away Monday, May 6, 2019 at home surrounded by his loving family.  He was the beloved husband of Carol Ann (Riley) Lachapelle whom he shared 56 years of marriage.

Born in Acushnet, he was the son of the late Hormidas Lachapelle and the late Clara (Bazinet) Lachapelle. Roland was a longtime resident of Acushnet for the past 50 years.

Roland is survived by his children; Nancy Ryan and her husband Kevin of Acushnet, Donna Landreville and the late Jerry Landreville of Acushnet, and David Lachapelle of New Bedford. Roland was also proud of his seven grandchildren; Shaun, Kaitlyn, Jennilynn, Michael, Jillian, Jeremy, Aiden and his three great-grand children; Landon, Avery and James. He is also survived by his sister, Claire McAlester of Freetown along with his loving nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Rita Cabral.

Roland was a proud veteran who served his country in the United States Air Force.

He worked for 33 years at the Acushnet Company, Rubber Division as an electrician until his retirement.  He was involved with the Apcoits of Acushnet Company.

He was an avid member of the Fairhaven bowling league and the Acushnet Company golf league. He enjoyed being a coach for the APCO baseball team, involved with the Boy Scouts and Cub Scouts troop #51.

Roland was a Catholic and a member of St. Francis Xavier Church in Acushnet.

The family wishes to thank the Community Nurse Hospice Care staff along with the doctors, nurses and staff at St. Luke’s Hospital in New Bedford for the care they provided to Roland.

The family is planning Roland’s “celebration of life” to be held at a future date.
