Shaun P. Martin, 56, passed away peacefully on April 15, 2026 in Savannah, Georgia. Shaun was born in New Bedford, Massachusetts to the late Thomas Martin and Jill (Martin) Sawicki. He was raised in New Bedford and East Freetown, and attended Apponequet Regional High School (Class of 1987).
As a young adult, Shaun was an accomplished BMX rider, winning dozens of trophies in events across southern New England.
Shaun was a successful entrepreneur. He purchased Shaun's Shell gas station in New Bedford in 1996. By 1998, Shaun had successfully converted Shaun's Shell into an independent, full-service gas station and convenience store, Marty's Gas & Go. In 2009, Shaun established A Southern Boys Construction Co.
Shaun was a vivid storyteller, and he wore his heart on his sleeve. He was very generous, known for his giving and charitable spirit. Shaun enjoyed fishing, watching movies, riding ATVs, driving his golf cart, and spending time with loved ones.
Shaun is survived by his mother and step-father, Walter Sawicki, sons Chad Martin and Maximus Martin, grandson Myles Martin, sister Karen Medeiros, niece Mallory Medeiros, and many friends and cousins.
A private burial ceremony will take place in Georgia at a later date.
