Shirley Purrington Obituary
Shirley M. Purrington 82, of Fairhaven passed away on Tuesday December 26, 2017.
She was the beloved wife for 47 years of the late Donald L. Purrington.
Born in Boston, Ma she was the daughter of the late Roland Hann and Ethel (Peckham) Hann.
Shirley was the loving mother of her two daughters; Joann G. Rezendes and her husband Jeffrey of Fairhaven and Karen Larsen.
She was the proud grandmother of her four grandchildren; Bethany Leonard and her husband Scott of Fairhaven, Thomas Rezendes and his wife Krystal of Acushnet, Benjamin Larsen and his girlfriend Mackenzie Reid, and Jake Larsen., and her 2 great grandchildren; Connor Rezendes and Aubrey Leonard.
Shirley graduated fron New Bedford High School, and she worked in her younger years as a Bank Teller for Merchants National bank. She also enjoyed being a house wife and loved her family. In her later years she was very devoted to her Church, The Church of the Good Shepherd (Episcopal) and she was very active doing Altar Guild, Bible Study, she also was the first female Senior Warden for 10 years. Shirley was also a Eucharistic Minister and was able to take Holy Communion to the homebound., and she also was a volunteer at St. Luke's Hospital in New Bedford.
Private burial will be held at a later date.
