It is with heaviest of hearts that the Cardoso family must announce the untimely death of Victor M. Cardoso.
Victor Manuel Evangelista Cardoso, age 64, of East Freetown passed away unexpectedly in the comfort of his home on Sunday, May 1, 2016.
The only son born to the late Artur (Goncalves) Cardoso and Maria (Evangelista) Cardoso of Horta, Faial, he immigrated with his parents to New Bedford in 1959. After he started a family of his own, he moved to East Freetown, MA where he worked in route sales until his retirement.
Victor was a jovial man with much artistic talent, and was regarded by many as a person full of life and joy. He devoted his free time to playing music, enjoying nature, shellfishing, kayaking, swimming, playing tennis, cycling, and wintering in Fort Myers Beach, FL, where he taught his friends how to make pizza “Vic’s way.”
He is survived by his beloved wife Melody A. (Dube) Cardoso, of East Freetown, his two adored children, Kelly A. Cardoso and Christopher M. Cardoso, and his cherished grandson, Christopher S. Cardoso, all of New Bedford, and several dispersed maternal cousins.
Following cremation, Victor’s memorial service will be held at South Coast Chapel Mortuary, 158 Middleboro Rd, ( Rt. 18) East Freetown, MA, 02717, Saturday, May 14, 2016 from 10:00 am to 12pm ( noon). The Cardoso family invites anyone who would like to say a final farewell or express their condolences to attend. In lieu of flowers, it is asked that donations be made to the family to offset the cost of service arrangements.
A subsequent private ceremony will take place at Assonet Burying Ground where Victor will be laid to rest with his parents.
