Winona Avila Obituary

Winona E. (Chase) Avila 83, of New Bedford passed away on Thursday February21, 2019 at St. Luke's Hospital.

She was the beloved wife of the late Donald R. Avila, Sr.

Born in Mattapoisett, Ma she was the daughter of the late John Edward Chase and Grace M. (Kinney) Chase. Winona is survived by her children; William R. Avila and his fiance Lina Silva of New Bedford, Debra Housewright of New Bedford, Sandra Neville and her husband James also of New Bedford, Cindy Avila and her fiance Mike Viveiros of Fairhaven, Winona was predeceased by her children; the late, Donald R. Avila, Jr, Donna Hardy, Brenda Reedy and she is survived by her daughter Brenda's husband Jimmy. Linton Chase and John E. Chase, Jr. Winona is survived by her sister; Elodie Wamsley of New Bedford and she is predeceased by her two other sisters; the late Virginia Inman and Shirley Chase.

Winona was the very proud grand mother of her 28 grandchildren,35 great grandchildren and 8 great great grandchildren.

Working her whole life as a homemaker, she just loved it, her children, her husband and her whole family. She also liked to play Bingo.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend her visitation on Tuesday Feb. 26, 2019 from 4pm to 8pm to be held at the South Coast Chapel Mortuary,158 Middleboro Rd (Rt.18) East Freetown, Ma 092717.

Her funeral will be held on Wednesday morning, at 10:00am  Feb.27, 2019  at South Coast Chapel Mortuary, East Freetown, with a procession to Rural Cemetery in New Bedford for her graveside service.
