YOLANDE E. SCOTTI
Marise Yolande Esther O'Bomsawin Scotti passed away peacefully on Monday, April 27, 2015 at Hathaway Manor, having lived a full and long life. Born on March 25, 1924 to Hector and Evangeline (Duquette) O'Bomsawin, Yolande was a lifelong area resident and the loving wife of the late E. Alfred Scotti, who died in 1993.
Growing up in a large family during the depression, Yolande left school to work at John A. Paulding Company. She later became a beautician and worked at Cherry & Webb hair salon where she met her future husband Scotti. Together they owned Scotti Salon in downtown New Bedford. Later, Yolande and Scotti founded Scotti Travel, which allowed them to travel extensively. They both enjoyed entertaining family and friends with Scotti doing the cooking and playing the piano, and Yolande ever the dutiful hostess, for many memorable gatherings at their home in Dartmouth. Yolande was an avid reader and talented seamstress, and loved high fashion, shopping and collecting jewelry of all kinds. She was a glamorous, spirited woman and always ready for a good time.
She leaves behind her beloved daughters and sons-in-law, Nina (Scotti) Lafferty and Mark of East Freetown, MA and Sandra (Gudewicz) Brown and Bruce of St. Augustine, FL, cherished grandchildren, Brendan Lafferty and Julie of Taunton, Erin Brogna and Ryan of Middleboro, Meghan Bradshaw and Adam of Fairhaven, and Kimberly Brown-Klimpl and Alan, and Trent Brown, of Florida, and great-grandchildren, Carly, Kaden, Rory, Benjamin, Scotti, Rumi, August, and Joad, along with many nieces, nephews and their families.
She was predeceased by all seven of her siblings, Simone Dube, Lillian Saenz, Yvette Fortin, Roland O'Bomsawin, Therese Ociesa, Marcelle Hebert and Jacqueline Walsh. Per her wishes, she will be cremated and there will be no funeral services. Arrivederci!
