Lorraine V. (Caissey) Young, 81 years old of Acushnet, MA passed away after a long illness on February 22, 2024 at St. Luke’s Hospital with loved ones by her side.
Lorraine was born in New Bedford, she was a daughter to the late Arthur and Violet (Williamson) Caissey. Sister to the late Priscilla “Pat” Everman of Bourne and devoted wife of the late George D. Young.
She graduated from New Bedford Vocational High School in 1960.
She enjoyed watching sports, dancing (especially the jitterbug with Sheila), Lincoln Park, bingo with Lucy and Edna, shopping, spending time with friends and family, knitting, traveling and summers at Ellis Haven campground, where she spent so much time throughout the years; blessing her with so many lifelong friendships.
Lorraine had the biggest heart and was known as “Ma” to all of her daughter Lisa’s friends. She always wanted to make sure fun was had, but had to be sure everyone was safe and sound.
In her final days, she was surrounded with love, laughter and memories shared by friends and family.
Survivors include her beloved daughter Lisa Campbell and her significant other John Varao of Acushnet; five grandchildren Casey, Paige, Victoria, Jarred, Ariel and all of their significant others; three great-grandchildren Maddox, Wyatt and a great granddaughter on the way. Cousin to Raymond “Butch” Bergeron and Blanche Chafe, who were like siblings to her, and their wonderful families and Aunt to Pat’s 4 children.
In accordance with her wishes, she will be cremated and burial services will be private.
A celebration of life gathering of family and friends with be held this summer. Relatives and friends will be invited to attend as details are finalized.
