Alfred H. Doney of New Bedford, passed away January 29 2014, at his home, surrounded by his loving family. He was 77 years old.

Born in Watertown, New York, he was the son of the late Harold J. Doney and Evelyn Rivers (Doney). Alfred was the beloved husband of Annette B. ( Langlois ) Doney. He was the loving father of  3 sons; Theodore Doney of Tennessee, Michael Doney of Easthampton, MA., and a step son Jeffrey Miller of West Wareham and 6 daughters; Joanne Tear of Cummington, MA, Cathleen Johnson of Ashfield, MA, Barbara Shepherd of Southampton, MA, Della Fortes of Fairhaven, Evelyn Viera of Lakeville and a step daughter Lisa Miller of New Bedford, MA. He is also survived by his brother, Harold J. Doney, Jr. of Clayton, New York and his late brother, Richard Doney. Alfred was also the proud grandfather of 17 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.

Alfred was a roofer and was employed by New Bedford Roofing for years. He  was an avid  Boston Red Sox and New England Patriots fan. He enjoyed the casinos, playing the slots but mostly he loved to scratch.....tickets. He will be deeply missed by those he loved and enjoyed.

A memorial service is planned, at a later date, to be held at the First Church of the Nazarene, on Hathaway Road in New Bedford, MA.

Thank you so much for taking such good care of dad. He was very lucky to have you as his wife, friend and partner in life. I can't thank you enough for all you did for dad you are one extraordinary person and I'm also lucky to have you in my life as well. I'm always going to be here for you and I love you very much.

Our love and prayers are with you all...we have many fond memories of our visits with you all...we hope your love as a family will help your pain heal faster and only leave the happiest of memories behind. Until we all meet again Uncle Al....rest in peace.

Sympathy to all. The best Man I knew next to my Dad. God bless, Buddy! He and Lynn can share some stories now. HAve a great yard sale and think of all of us.
